Peter Martin started a training company teaching subjects he had previously taught in college such as ICT, first aid and other business related courses.
First digital service
After delivering training courses on websites and software enquiries were coming in asking if we could provide website and software services. We said yes and developed some services around this.
From our first aid courses organisations asked if we could be their event first aiders. We developed this service and did our first event. We now have all grades of medical staff doing this on a regular basis.
We had grown to do far more than just training. Providing software and web services in the same company that did event medical services made no sense. We split them in to two different companies.
Medical and Safety Alliance
Our event medical company now called Medical and Safety Alliance and co-run by Annie expanded to other event services such as security and health and safety. It still provided training and our course portfolio expanded with new tutors coming onboard.
Our digital company now called Profs.biz had four different services, websites, digital marketing, hosting and software implementation to provide clients with end to end digital services.
In 2018 we opened up our first store selling medical equipment. We did this because we were constantly recommending to client where they could get their equipment.
Both businesses were going strong and seen success sky rocket with businesses having their own identity. We had lots of projects lined up for 2020 which looked like it was going to be our most successful year for both businesses. and then…
In 2020 the covid pandemic hit the UK hard. Events and training disappeared overnight putting the medical and safety alliance in serious trouble. Profs.biz went on to win some local government tenders and was riding out the storm well.
In lockdown Peters daughter Sky aged 12 decided she wanted to start selling clothes. Marfam Clothing was born.
To help Medical and Safety Alliance get through the pandemic the Marfam Group was created. The services from both Profs.biz and Medical and Safety Alliance were split off into their own separate entities and rebranded as the Marfam brand. The company was now a group with 8 brands under it.
